:star:Frequently Asked Questions:star:

1. Can we submit written fanfictions into the contest?

Answer: No, you may not. This is a strictly artworks only. EX: Cosplay pictures, digital/traditional drawings, photoshop, and ect. I'm really sorry! :( It's just that we have so many members, (1,000+) and having so little staff members to moderate and read through several fanfictions of so many members will be too much for us. :iconsweatdropplz:

2. When is the dead line?

Answer: The deadline will be before or up until December 25th. No later than that. All late submissions will be null and void. :iconguaahplz:

3. What kind of theme will be it?

Answer: Christmas themes like presents, Christmas trees, playing in the snow, and ect. The staff will not allow just snowy scenery and that's it. It has to involve something Christmas related.

4. Are Mass Effect OCs allowed?

Answer: Yes! :iconiloveitplz: Anything goes in this contest. :iconhappyskipplz:

If you have submitted your Christmas Contest Picture in our galleries, then please comment below or note us so we can have it arranged to be put in the correct folder. Again, we're sorry for the long wait. I was expecting someone else to put up the folder besides me. :iconorzplz:

Okay, the only problem is have is that I really don't have anything to put my drawings on the computer. I am not a techie. I have a camera, but I don't know how to put pictures on the computer.

Too bad so many people use the official models from the game for their artworks, I'd want to see a contest for 100% self made works, and not simply posing/retexturing the original ones.... sigh.

I can agree with that, its always way better to see a "hand" drawn image, more emotion is involved and for the most part, tends to be more driven. Sadly some people don't have that kind of talent, yet they have the image in their minds. Its a shame too, I've thought of a dozen scenes that I would love to draw, but stick figures don't cut it, clearly. And I'm not the only one with set issue.

I would love to see a contest of self made works, some of my all time favorites are drawn out, not models

I don't draw, but I morph my characters from scratch and it requires hours and days of work to get acceptable results... ^^

As a person using models, I must say it's not that easy to make a good picture with them. You might argue where art starts and begins, but trust me when I tell You - it takes HOURS of honest work before picture is finished and nothing less but heart is put in them - at least in the ones I am making.
I wish I could draw/paint/have any other talent that would allow me to make such, as You put it "100% self-made work", but I cannot. Does it mean I should not be showing what my imagination gives me by using models? ;)

I wasn't criticizing your work, or other people's ones... Art is art, nothing is more perspective than art, right? :) I have many friends using those models and I know they require time and patience to pose them and render correctly... I am a 3D modeler myself, but I never used already made models to portray my artworks (please do not see this as a critic, I wish to stress this) simply because (apart from the ambiguous copyright thing that I am putting aside) it looks at the same time too easy to reach, yet most audience prefers this kind of renders because they look like they are part of the game. No kind of rendering can be as close the original models themselves. I work with a different program than XNA, which is a professional tool for morphing and editing custom characters from scratch, and even if I need days, if not weeks in some cases, to fully morph a character and be satisfied with the result, many of my friends who use this program, including me, feel often a bit frustrated that "our different" kind of works gets mostly ignored because they are not the official models. I was commenting on the possibility of having maybe in the future a contest for non-official artworks, where everything you see in the picture is 100% made from you.

Now again, please don't see this as a critic against yourself and XNA modding community, as I personally find many pictures made with it quite stunning and sometimes rendered even better than in the games.
That's it ^^

It did sound like a critique of some sorts, so please forgive me for this little over-reaction of mine. I wish I had Your skills or knowledge to be able to create models and enjoy them looking how I wish them to look. Using only ready models is very limited and, as You said, the copyright is ambiguous. I'm living in constant fear that at some point dA will decide to shut down my gallery and the only argument I'll have would be "there was no direct NO to XNALara from BioWare" and "there's that tread on BioWare Social forums, explaining XNALara and rigging in great detail, and despite the call to mods to 'remove it, if it violates any policy', it's been there for years" :P
Besides, I sometimes wonder if people, who have no idea about difficulties involved in model-made pictures, see one of mine and go all "ha, that's easy, she's just using models". Well, as You said Yourself, it's not that easy ;) And maybe that's why I overreacted. My apologies again.

As for Your own gallery, I cannot see how people could ignore Your pictures! Surely, they might look different, but if they do, it's all for the best. Hats off for the Tali model, she's beautiful (although let me just tell You - not my headcanon ;) ).

Hey, it's okay ^^ I wasn't trying to offend anyone... it's just a bit frustrating to spend so many hours of work and then mostly get little to no feedback, and many general superficial comments like "my version is better than yours", then I look his gallery and I see he uses XNA models... It is, frustrating.

But thank you for what you said, you're very kind. And thank you for the watch :)
