Drell female officially revealed - Irikah Krios in ME Foundation

:bulletblue: Do you remember lieutenant Abrudas from ME:Evolution comic? Yes, that was the first Turian female even shown during the cycle of Mass Effect trilogy.

:bulletblue: And now a preview of a new issue of ME: Foundation #12 has appeared... and inside... First official appearance of a Drell Female.
This time they showed Thane's wife that is known to the players through Thane's tales about his past.

:bulletblue:  So for the time being I'll upload the screens from the preview:

:bulletblue: What do you think?
Abrudas was shown several months before Omeda DLC and the official design for Turian females didn't stray far from the comic version.
Maybe that means ME4 will have Drell Females. Who knows. If so, they probably will be similar to Irikah.

I really like this design - except for the boobs. Oh god I wish they would stop giving every female alien boobs. Also the choice of colors doesn't really fit Kolyats genetics(Idk how a green and yellow drell would get a turquoise baby but yeah)

Uh, no. Not a fan. Too creepy/masculine (though that's largely the art style, I think, to be fair), and ugh, reptilian boobs. Because all females are required to have human-esque tits, don'tcha know, regardless of how much sense it makes. And, well, I like to imagine Irikah being yellow-and-blue colored rather than just yellow, but that's a minor quibble in the midst of everything else.

I like your version better.
The one shown here just looks a little too tough. I mean, I'm sure she had to be tough to deal with Thane and Koylat, but I always pictured her as a quite strong sort of person in a 'If you break my heart your own guilt would kill you' sort of way, not a 'I will tear you apart by hand' sort of way.

I'm just glad I have something to go by! By the way, are we really surprised that Bioware gave the female Drell boobs? Female Shep went to a b cup to a d cup in 3 games. I like my blue Irikah in a sensible dress

Why the hell does an alien species that eats solid food from birth have mammary glans? Are they really that uncreative.

And Spyke is right: it is "sunset-coloured eyes." At least they're defiant in his scope. That's pretty much the only thing they got right, because "How  dare you?" wasn't actually spoken, just mouthed silently.

Oh, I just noticed the fingers. Thank the gods they finally got that right!

Her colouring also doesn't explain why Thane - a green drell - has a turquoise-coloured son.

Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. and Fail.

Well my Irikah is blue. I'd say that Thane or Irikah had a parent that had turquoise skin. Makes about as much as sense as a female drell with boobs! Ha ha

ugh, I don't like the art style and her design at all. I imagined her much more slim and "feminine" for lack of a better word. I'm not even acknowledging the boobs but her whole frame looks off to me. Not that the comics are known for their accurate art style.
(add to that that he could not possibly hear what she says because he's looking through a scope... yeah, not impressed.)

I'd take this comic (as with most comics from any series like this) with a grain of salt. The art style, for example, looks severely rushed - just looking at how the bird's faces were drawn, they look quickly scribbled with a lack of any structure in their bodies (no bones and blob wings). In the second panel, Irikah's face is disproportionate ( her cheek, our left, is larger than the other, for example), and the general posing (especially the action shots) don't read very well.

But I expect this because I know how rushed comics can be ( take Transformers, for example, in some scenes the characters almost look like blobs). I wouldn't be surprised if the artist(s) who did this comic, were given very basic information, and had to fill in the blanks (such as her appearance).

As for not being able to hear her, while I agree with you on a logical point of view, in art and story telling, sometimes rules are bent for the sake of the audience. The artist probably wanted to make sure there was no doubt that she was angry and staring him down, as sometimes readers need things dumbed down for them with actual blunt dialog.

If it helps, Thane could be reading her lips, or perhaps, this being Sci-Fi with advanced alien tech, there could be some work around where he is able to pick up sounds some how.

I don't find breasts an issue when male Drell already have a strikingly human body structure.

It's not really a good enough excuse when there are plenty of other creative ways to tell gender other than to toss some breasts on it.

Even if they were mammals, I'd still look down on it, simply because enlarged breasts (all the time), is a human thing. People are tossing breasts on non-human characters for the sake of sexualization (which something doesn't need breasts to be sexy), or gender identification, which just comes down as ignorant; human body structure or not, a female doesn't need boobs to be seen as a female, or to be sexy.

Is it just me, or does Irikah's face look more masculine than Thane's?

I swear, if I hadn't noticed the mammaries, I'd still be looking for the female.

I guess I can see what they're going for, though, the outward differences between Drell man and woman is more subtle, sort of like Turians and even, to some extent, Humans.

Still, though, I'm going to hope that this is either a character-exclusive trait, or this is just a bad shot, because I seriously think Irikah looks more masculine than Thane does...

But just because a human female is feminine, does not mean an alien should be c: It would be cool if there actually were a species were the females weren't feminine and "sexy"(after human standard). Like if they were more masculine than the males. To me she doesn't look more masculine than Thane. But each to their own (:

It states in the Codex as plain as day that Drell are born able to eat solid food, hence no need for breasts. This is laziness, plain and simple. There are other identifiers to go with other than breasts/no breasts.

I'm still going with my design.

I kinda like their style. The only complaint is the breasts. Really? Females of an alien race need to have breasts, regardless of what kind of creature they evolved from? Talk about anthropocentrism. I think Liara's dad may have some choice words about that

The comic artwork is always a bit /off/... it's their style.

But boobies... well, who would have thought otherwise really? Actually... aren't these just venom depots or something?

Cool to see an official design, but I feel like a lot of female drell concept art by fans look better. On the other hand, female aliens tend to look better in the actual game as opposed to the comics, like how Nyreen was more aesthetically pleasing compared to Abrudas (to me, anyway). Still, I'd love to see a female drell in ME4.

Weird coloration there. I assume Irikah's skin is the same green as Thane's and they are both shown as yellow for printing reasons. The salarian is also strangely coloured.
