Bioware has announced yet another awesome-looking expansion to the ever-growing Multiplayer component of Mass Effect 3.

What do we have here? This is the largest expansion to the multiplayer to date.
Well, first and foremost, we have an entirely new enemy faction: the Collectors are returning to Mass Effect!
The old faces from ME2 will be coming back with the Praetorian, Scion, Abomination, Trooper and Collector Captain, and these familiar foes will fight alongside the new Dragoons and different Geth drones.
Two new allies will be made available, the Turian Ghost Infiltrator and Havoc Soldier. Jet packs, people.
Just when you thought getting thrown off the map as a Vanguard was fun.
Bioware says "many more" characters will be added on a "regular basis".
Collector Weapons will be made available as well, coming with the assault rifle, SMG, and sniper rifle all in your favorite crunchy buggy flavor!
New ammo types included too, the new Drill rounds, and two old friends from Mass Effect 1: the Phasic and glorious Explosive rounds! Other gear includes the Medi-Gel Transmitter, Armored Compartments, Responer Loadout, Survivor Loadout and Assault Loadout
No new maps will be added, but what we will be seeing is new elements added to existing maps.
"A regular rotation of Firebases will be introduced to different hazards as they come under attack. Survive the onslaught of Acid, Lightning, Meltdowns, Sandstorms, Swarms and Whiteouts!"
Once again, this will be absolutely free of charge. Mark your calendars, for on the 9th of October, the Retaliation begins!
Oh, and I'm certain there are a lot of you wondering where the Collector faction came from. Didn't we destroy them in ME2?
My guess is as good as yours, but my guess is that the upcoming Omega DLC for the single player will expand upon this apparent lore inconsistency.
There will be a total of sixteen classes being made available over time. Four of them will be releasing on the 9th.
