Another couple of videos and several screenshots were released today showing some new stuff.
First, we have the ME3 Gamestop pre-order incentive: The N7 Warfare Gear package, which includes the Argus Rifle, the Valkyrie Rifle and the N7 Defender Armor --which is like James Vega's armor with an N7 paint job, which I'd guess is nice for fans of James Vega.
Here's the feature video.
[link]Now, there's some really interesting tidbits nestled in here.
At 0:20, you can see to Shepard's left, there's an asari soldier protected within a shield bubble, or more likely a biotic barrier, judging by the color. There doesn't seem to be an emitter, so perhaps it's a support ability like Halo's drop shield?
0:43 - 0:50 Ah, yes; turian husks. These guys carry actual weapons, whereas the human husks used melee attacks and the Cannibals use shoulder-mounted cannons and so on. Their role looks like it’s going to be that of the general infantry. Now, note their appearance; their crest looks exactly like Saren’s did. No other turian had a fringe like he did. This suggests that it was the direct result of Reaper tampering. Actually, let me rephrase that; these guys look a lot like Saren did period.
0:50 You can see more asari, one manning a stationary turret like the one Shepard used in the Reaper Base trailer from E3. They also appear to be protected by biotic barriers.
0:48 Specifically about an inch to the left of Shepard’s rifle you can see a winged enemy, which will come up later in the video at 1:09 where you can see them more clearly. These appear to be the Harvesters seen in Grunt’s Loyalty Mission, only in husk form. And this shot also reveals the setting of the video, and, if I’m not mistaken, it looks like Thessia, which would explain the asari.
Other shots like at 1:03 show other, unidentified locales. But the 1:03 setting appears to be a listening outpost --or something, judging by the antennas-- on an arid planet.
Next we have the screenshots.
[link]Ah yes, here we are; Tali. We haven't really seen her since a brief appearance in an E3 video. They appear to have left her suit alone, visually.
[link]More Tali action.
[link]A specific view of the Defender Armor.
[link]Now, don’t be fooled like I was for a second; that figure to the left of Shepard’s forehead is not Zaeed. It’s Vega with an Avenger. The locale appears to be either Korlus or Tuchanka. More likely Tuchanka.
[link]Like the human husks from ME2, the turian husks appear to come in varying forms. This appears to be the Brute assault form, as seen in the Against All Odds trailer. These guys seem more mechanical than other forms, like the Cannibal. You can see more synthetic pieces in their construction. The locale of this shot might be Palaven, or one of its moons. This guess is based on the turian body to the left of the Brute.
[link]You know; why is it called “Team Dextro” if Shepard is Levo-Amino?
[link]Well, it doesn’t appear as if Liara will be getting a helmet. Vega has one, though.
[link]Garrus and Tali again. It looks like a crashed quarian ship, as evidenced by the prostrate quarian at Tali’s feet.
That’s it for today, folks! There will be a feature of Mass Effect 3’s Kinect capabilities at an upcoming conference, but nothing specific is on the horizon as of yet.
